小妇人英文读后感1200字

【第1篇】

Little Women ,wrote by a famous America writer, Louisa May Alcott, was popular with the world .Alcott wrote the book based on the real life of the four sisters in her family .This book is a combination of love, respect ,understatement, optimism and many other nice things in life.

In this warm family, the four sisters had different characters. The eldest sister, Meg, was very pretty, with smooth hair and white hands. She did many things for the family because she thought that she was the only "man" when their parents were far away from home. She was responsible for her family. Then, the second oldest sister, Jo, was very outspoken and active in writing articles .Also ,she wanted to earn some money to support the family by writing. Beth was the third-oldest sister. It seemed that she was very shy and quiet. What's more, she played piano well, which made her   my favorite girl in the four. She once helped to look after a poor family, then she got the scarlet fever, which caused her death at last .I was so sad at her death that I want to ask Alcott to rewrite Beth's fate. But I know it is impossible, we can only keep Beth in our mind forever. Amy, the youngest sister, loved drawing and had a determined heart, though sometimes was very naughty and selfish; she cared about her sisters very much just like the other girls did. So I think she was also a good and lovely girl.

The four girls sometimes quarreled, but they still loved each other deeply. They complained about poverty and dissatisfaction in their jobs and lives, but they knew that life would go on and they had to try their best to do everything.

Fortunately, they had a good neighbor, Laurie, a rich  young man who lived with his grandfather. They often played with him happily and through the communication between the young, Laurie fell in love with Jo. But Jo refused his love, which made me a bit disappointed. Jo married with professor Friedrich, who was a poor German but well-educated, and always encouraging Jo to be a serious writer instead of writing "sensation" stories for weekly tabloids. Meg married with Mr. Brooke and they lived a happy life. We can't understand the arrangement of the story until we see that Amy and Laurie got married at last, because they were all finding and waiting for their true love.

Mr. March, their father, was very healthy before. In order to help one of his friends to repay the debt, he became poor. Then he joined the army. Every day Mrs. March and the children were very worried about their father and were looking forward to receiving father's letters .But someday ,they received a letter saying that father was injured in the civil war, which made the family full of sadness. To look after their father, they need money badly. To my surprise, Jo cut her beautiful long hair that she was always proud of to earn some money. Jo's behavior gave me a deep impression .It told me that parents are the most important people in our life and nothing can match them. We can do anything for the person we love. With the power of love, we can overcome many difficulties.

At last, father stayed with them again. Everything was right .The atmosphere in the house was soft and sweet again. The girls had grown up to be mature little women really.

【第2篇】

Before I read this book, I had watched a cartoon movie made by Japan. So I have a strong interest on it.

It all begins in the dead of winter; The Christmas Season. The coldest one of all, were the war has made fuel for heating very scarce. While her husband is off at war, Marmee is left alone to raise their four daughters: Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy.

On Christmas Eve, Marmee has just arrived home from passing out food to the less fortunate with a letter from her husband, the girls' father. The all gather together around the fire to read the letter. Afterwards, the girls are teary eyed. Marmee kisses them and they are off to bed.

Jo is longing to become a writer. So, every night she stays up late writing the script for soap operas. As morning comes she is the last one awake. The table is set, and food prepared for their Christmas feast.

As dusk falls, the girls are all up in the attic acting out Jo's play, which she reads from the local (fake) newspaper. As they are performing, their rich, next-door neighbors grandson watches from the window.

The 2 oldest girls: Jo and Meg, get ready to attend the Christmas Ball. While Jo is curling Meg's hair, there is a strange smell to the air. Amy screams, Megs hair is being singed. They continue digging through the old clothes bin for a pair of white gloves.

One of the prominent themes in Little Women is the coming of age or maturation of the girls. During the course of the novel we see them grow in many ways — physically, intellectually, and especially emotionally. One question which readers must ask themselves is whether the views the characters have on the coming of age process are shared by Alcott. If they aren't, what are Alcott's views and how do they differ from those of the women in her story?

It is interesting to examine the last half of Chapter 20, "Confidential." Jo addresses the maturation issue as she speaks with Marmee of the situation between Meg and Mr. Brooke. The possible love between these two represents one of the very important aspects in coming of age for a teenage girl. Jo treats this natural process as if it were some sort of disease, however. Jo cannot understand why Meg would want to stop behaving "like a sensible creature" (p.202), and refers to love as "such nonsense."
